Gevorg Tarakhchyan has been called up to the Armenian national team to prepare for the last two matches of the European Zone qualifying round for the 2026 World Cup. The 23-year-old midfielder played for Urartu in the 2020/21 season, participating in 15 matches. In the 2021/22 season, he defended the colors of Sevan FC, representing the Gegharkunik region, and Noah, from where he left for military service (CSKA Moscow). Tarakhchyan last appeared on the green grass in a national team jersey in 2024. Currently, the young footballer plays for Pyunik, the 16-time champion of Armenia, eight-time cup winner, participating in 14 matches in all competitions this season and scoring three goals.

Gevorg often helps his teammates on the field by providing support during attacks. He joined the “Pomegranate” team in January of this year, and has also played under the current head coach of the Armenian national team, Yeghishe Melikyan, and we can say that the decision of the Armenian specialist will have a positive impact on the national team. One of the current problems of the national team is the attacking line (number nine position). This problem leads to the failure of the final stage of attacks. Tarakhchyan moves quickly on the field, looking for options to continue the attacks. In the team camp and on the field, they usually understand each other well when they are clubmates. According to sportsworld.am, he plays bold football, thanks to this feature in one-on-one situations, he earned more set pieces, especially corner kicks.
