Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola made a sarcastic comment during a post-match press conference, where he was once again reminded of the club's trophy-to-player ratio. The capital club reached the League Cup final, where they will face Arsenal. Guardiola's men defeated Newcastle United 5-1 on aggregate (2-0, 3-1) in the semi-finals.
"We reached the final thanks to our spending. Jokes aside, I'm happy with this achievement. I don't take it for granted and I understand how difficult it is. I just need the players to be in good shape and be able to compete with Arsenal," Guardiola was quoted as saying by City Report on the X social network, referring to the Spanish coach's press conference.
Recall that in a previous press conference, Guardiola noted that City is the seventh-largest spender in the Premier League, and added that he expects similar results from the six teams that have spent more.
