In the Conference League Playoff round, Armenian champion/two-time cup winner "Noah" hosted the Dutch "AZ Alkmaar" at home.
The club was founded in 1967. The opening three minutes of the match were filled with fierce attacks, in which Hovhannes Hambardzumyan and his teammates could have opened the score. As the Croatian specialist noted during the pre-match press conference, “I am confident that we will create a great atmosphere with all the fans who will come tomorrow. I see that my players are filled with great enthusiasm.” The head coach’s words are evidenced by the game the players of the Yerevan club showed.
According to SportsWorld.am, about 13,395 spectators were at the stadium to support the Yerevan club during the Noah-AZ Alkmaar match. In the thirtieth minute of the first half, the Armenian champion made an excellent attack, leaving the Dutch club's players empty-handed, but goalkeeper Jeroen Zoet was on the spot.
The first 45 minutes passed with a score of 0:0. In the opening seven minutes of the second half, the 59-year-old club had the ball, but our team captain, Hovhannes Hambardzumyan, appeared in the right place at the right time and opened the score, bringing joy to his team's fans (1:0).
According to AFSCORE statistics, AZ Alkmaar was ahead of Noah, but the Armenian team was ahead. Hovhannes Hambardzumyan's goal was a cold shower for AZ Alkmaar, as they were unable to find their game, while Noah was playing its typical football.
