Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola commented on the results of English clubs in the first legs of the UEFA Champions League round of 16.
"England used to be the best league in the world, we were the best. But after what happened in midweek you can't say that anymore. I still believe we have an incredible league, we could just play a lot better," Guardiola told the BBC.
In one match, Manchester City lost to Real Madrid 0-3. Atletico also crushed Tottenham 5-2, and Galatasaray narrowly beat Liverpool 1-0.
In another match, Arsenal managed to avoid defeat against Bayer Leverkusen, where the Londoners equalized the score late in the game with a penalty shootout. The match ended 1–1.
