On March 16, FFA Secretary General Edgar Petrosyan and FFA Head of Competitions Department Davit Harutyunyan met with representatives of all Fastex Armenian Premier League and 4 First Group clubs, the FFA Communications Department reported.
The possible change in the number of players who will be on the field at the same time and on the roster for the upcoming 2 seasons of the Fastex Armenian Premier League matches, who have trained in Armenia, was discussed.
According to the FFA regulations for conducting professional football competitions, the following provision is currently mandatory in Armenian Premier League matches: "Out of the 23 players included in the match protocol, 9 must be trained in the Republic of Armenia or members of the national/different age teams of Armenia. At least 3 players trained in the Republic of Armenia or members of the national/different age teams of Armenia must be on the field at the same time."
The clubs were suggested to make the following changes in the upcoming season: 10 players instead of 9 on the game sheet, and 4 players instead of 3 on the field. We received the following responses from the clubs:
"Noah", "Alashkert", "Ararat", "Gandzasar", "Ararat Armenia" and "Van" teams have spoken out against increasing the number of Armenian football players on the field and have proposed leaving the previous regulations unchanged.
"Urartu", "Pyunik", "Sardarapat", "Hayk", "Syunik" and "Andranik" clubs expressed their support for the proposed change. During the discussion, "Shirak" also expressed its support for the proposed change. "Urartu" in particular presented quite interesting and new proposals.
The Football Federation of Armenia constantly keeps this issue in the spotlight. Clubs also raise it very often and have different points of view. This topic is quite important and requires detailed and wide professional discussions.
We will return to this issue after the upcoming match of the Armenian national team. It will be discussed during the Executive Committee meeting, presenting the positions of the clubs to the members of the Executive Committee.
