Atletico Madrid are ready to offer striker Julian Alvarez a new contract to avoid a move to other teams, particularly Barcelona, who are interested in him, reports Marca.
According to the source, the “Mattress Makers” could make the Argentine striker the team’s highest-paid player, along with goalkeeper Jan Oblak. Media outlets previously reported that the goalkeeper’s salary is around 20 million euros.
It is reported that Atletico Madrid wants to extend Alvarez's contract for another year or two, which would see the striker earn more than 10 million euros per year.
The Argentine has made 44 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring 17 goals and providing nine assists. His current contract with the club runs until the summer of 2030. According to Transfermarkt, his market value is €90 million.
