As of May 13, 16 clubs have already secured their place in next season's UEFA Champions League. For some clubs, participation in the competitions can be a decisive factor in their success (or lack thereof) in a given season, and can also significantly affect the budgets of teams with less financial resources. The latest to do so was Atalanta, who beat Roma on Monday to secure a place in the top four, reports A Bola.
In the Premier League, only reigning champions Liverpool are guaranteed a place. In Spain, the trio of Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have already secured qualification. Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen represent the Bundesliga, while Italy's Inter Milan, Napoli and Atalanta have also already qualified. The list of participants from Europe's top five leagues is completed by Ligue 1's PSG, Marseille and Monaco.
In addition to the so-called "big five", four more clubs already know that they will play in next year's Champions League: Ajax and PSV from the Netherlands, Olympiacos from Greece and Slavia Prague from the Czech Republic.
