Girona's sporting director Quique Carcel has commented on the club's 2024 summer transfer campaign.
"The summer transfer market was difficult, some signings didn't happen and I'm not happy. After Dovbik, we signed two players who scored seven goals in total. The circumstances were difficult: there were pre-season training, time working with the team, injuries, they were criticized..."
As for the other positions, in my opinion, we had two players who could show a good level. The team had bright moments. I can't say that the lineup was bad: we have a good team with promising players.
"If we compare it to the season when we were relegated, I chose more experienced players and didn't follow my own idea. This year I followed my own vision. I don't think the transfer market was excellent or high, but I can't say it was a bad transfer window either," Carcel was quoted as saying by AS.
Recall that in the 2023/24 season, Dovbik scored 24 goals in La Liga for the Catalans and became the top scorer in the Spanish championship.
