The head coach of the Armenian national team, Yeghishe Melikyan, answered journalists' questions during a press conference held before the 2026 World Cup qualifying match against the Irish national team.
"The 0:5 score is a big blow, and it's not like we should forget it quickly. Recovering is very difficult. No matter how much we want it, it leaves a mark. We are the Armenian national team, and any defeat, especially with a big score, has an impact."
The Portuguese and Irish teams are different in their style and level of play. Ireland is also a strong team for us, but winning is realistic. With a lot of work, it can be done. There will be difficulties, they are a serious opponent, but Portugal is not. I can't say that they are a mid-level team either.
