Austrian goalkeeper Alexander Manninger has died in a car accident, the press service of the Austrian Red Bull Salzburg club reported on social networks.
"We mourn the loss of our former goalkeeper Alexander Manninger, who tragically passed away in a traffic accident. Our thoughts are with his family and friends. Rest in peace, Alexander," the statement said.
In addition to Red Bull Salzburg, 48-year-old Alexander Manninger has played for English clubs Arsenal, Italian clubs Fiorentina, Bologna, Siena, Juventus and other clubs. He won the English Premier League title with Arsenal in the 1997/98 season, and the Italian championship title with Juventus in the 2011/12 season.
