Conte's former assistant responds to De Bruyne's criticism

Stellini, a former assistant to former Napoli manager Antonio Conte, has responded to criticism from Napoli midfielder Kevin De Bruyne and compared him to AC Milan midfielder Luka Modric. The Belgian had previously stated that he was happy with Conte's departure.

"Maybe it doesn't make sense for Napoli to sign 33-year-old players who have a long history, for whom aesthetics are more important than results. If they are going to sign such experienced players, let them at least set an example for the younger players in terms of enthusiasm and joy at a club like Napoli. I didn't see any joy or enthusiasm in him. I hope he has an experience in the future that suits him better, maybe with Garcia in the national team."

"I was very impressed with how Luka Modric adapted to life at Milan, guiding his teammates with his enthusiasm and leadership qualities. Playing in a team with a very pragmatic football style, he achieved excellent results and never criticized the management or the coach. "Being a professional also means understanding what needs to be done to create a better environment, to set an example for others," Stellini was quoted as saying by Corriere dello Sport.

Recall that Kevin De Bruyne moved to Napoli in the summer of 2025 from Manchester City.
