The ceremony dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Ballon d'Or will take place in London on October 26, 2026, the official website of the award ceremony reports.
The event has been moved from Paris. It will be held in the British capital for the first time in memory of the first winner of the award, founded by France Football magazine in 1956, Englishman Stanley Matthews.
"Furthermore, given the 70th anniversary of the Ballon d'Or, it is logical to celebrate the best modern players in the heart of the country where football was born," the organizers said in a statement.
From 2010 to 2015, the awards ceremony was held in Zurich, Switzerland, where it was co-organised by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), whose headquarters are located in that city. Since 2019, the awards ceremony has been held at the Théâtre de Châtelet in Paris.
In 2025, the award was won by Frenchman Ousmane Dembele from PSG.
