The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) has issued a statement regarding the search of players at a US airport. Earlier, a video surfaced showing the search of Senegalese national team players and coaches. According to unconfirmed media reports, the Senegalese players were searched for drugs.
Contrary to some reports, the screening did not occur upon the team's arrival in San Antonio, but rather upon landing at the Raleigh airport before departing for the United States. The bus carrying the Senegalese team departed from the Raleigh hotel and went directly to the airport runway. This procedure allowed the players and staff to pass through all security and police checks immediately upon boarding the plane, bypassing the terminal and departure halls.
"This event was primarily aimed at optimizing logistics. Everyone wanted to simplify the team's boarding on the private flight to San Antonio. We emphasize that this procedure was carried out in full compliance with applicable aviation safety regulations, and no incidents were reported. The flight from Raleigh to San Antonio took place in excellent conditions," the FSF statement said.
"Regarding the publication on social media of a video of Senegalese national team players and staff undergoing security checks on the airport runway, we would like to make the following comment to avoid any misunderstanding."
