Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya has spoken about his feelings after losing the 2025/2026 Champions League final to Paris Saint-Germain. The score ended 1-1 after regular time and extra time, and the Parisians won the penalty shootout 4-3.
"When you reach the Champions League final for the first time in 20 years and then lose on penalties, it destroys you inside. I left there with my head held high because of the work we did, but I was broken inside. We were so close to winning... That night after the final was very difficult, and the next morning too. But then you get to the Emirates, see the fans holding the Premier League trophy, and you realise what you've achieved. It makes you smile," Raya was quoted as saying by The Guardian.
The goalkeeper also noted that after the defeat he was unable to speak to his national teammate Fabian Ruiz, who plays for PSG, and only congratulated him the next day.
