Vice President of the Football Federation of Armenia (FFA), member of the Executive Committee, Armen Nikoghosyan, made an official statement:
"Dear football community,
At the FFA meeting held at the end of last year, I announced that I would not run for the 2026 Executive Committee elections and would end my activities as FFA Vice President. However, during this time, events occurred that made certain adjustments to my decision.
First, the Armenian national futsal team participated in the group stage of the European Championship, which was an unprecedented result for Armenian sports. I wish all sports fans the pride that our country is finally in the same league as the European leaders, as well as the excitement and emotions I experienced in those days.
Then an even more important and for many an incredible event happened: our country, together with Georgia, received the right to organize the second largest tournament in the world in terms of significance, the 2029 FIFA U-20 World Cup. By and large, I never dreamed that during my tenure I would have a direct participation in such events that seemed unattainable not so long ago. But now this is a reality, we must pursue new goals, and I will participate in the preparatory work for organizing this very tournament. Therefore, I announce my resignation from the position of FFA Vice President and member of the Executive Committee.
I express my gratitude to my colleagues for their joint work. Noting that there have been both successes and failures, I ask for everyone's forgiveness. In many cases, I have not agreed with the decisions made, but I have always been guided by the interests of Armenian football, considering the exclusion of patronage and corruption as a priority. I can state that the current leadership of the FFA has managed to completely eradicate these phenomena, and this is already an irreversible reality. I am confident that in the near future we will also see the rise of the national team, for which all the necessary conditions have been created.
"I wish our country a strong and unshakable peace, and new victories for Armenian sports and football."
This is stated in a statement issued by the Football Federation of Armenia.
