Slott learned of his dismissal during preseason planning

New details have emerged regarding Arne Slott's dismissal as Liverpool manager on Saturday.

 The Athletic reports that Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes broke the news to Sloty on Saturday morning. Sloty was not expecting the decision, having been heavily involved in pre-season training and discussions about the summer transfer window. He had been discussing summer plans and preparations for next season with the players up until Saturday, believing he would have the opportunity to correct any mistakes he had made.

In addition, Arne has reached an agreement with Etienne Reinen, his former assistant at Feyenoord, to join the coaching staff this summer.

Hughes and FSG chief executive Michael Edwards had previously stated their support for "Slack", given the circumstances that had contributed to Liverpool's poor results. However, after reviewing the situation a week after the end of the season, they concluded that a change was necessary, given the mood in both the dressing room and among the fans.

Slot has been the manager of the Merseysiders since the summer of 2024. Under his leadership, Liverpool became champions of England in the 2024/25 season. Last season, the Reds earned 60 points and finished fifth in the standings. Slot managed Feyenoord before being appointed to Liverpool.
