As part of the 24th round of the Fastex Premier, Gyumri's Shirak hosted Yerevan's Ararat.
In the first half, both teams played active football. In the opening minutes, the team representing Gyumri was more active. Shirak had two chances, very close to opening the score, but Narek Janoyan missed from an advantageous position. After this episode, Rudik Mkrtchyan and his teammates had another chance, but failed to convert it into a goal.
In the second half, both teams were active again. After a corner kick, Shirak's 23-year-old defender Ruben Karagulyan played with his hand in the penalty area and scored a penalty kick against his team's goal, which was scored by Yerevan club player Mamadou Doumbia (1:0). Gyumri's goalkeeper Lyova Karapetyan guessed the direction of the kick, but was unable to push the ball back.
Doumbia had another chance in this episode, when Lyova Karapetyan took possession of the ball, but the 21-year-old footballer scored a brace in the 78th minute of the match (2:0), scoring his tenth goal in the current championship, equaling the record of "Noah" footballer Helder Ferreira.
Thus, Ararat defeats Shirak in the away game and equalizes with the opponent in terms of points. After this game, the Yerevan club increases the number of points to 12, the same as Arsen Hovhannisyan's team, but has an advantage in additional indicators and occupies the ninth place in the Fastex Premier League standings, Ararat concludes the current championship.
This may not be the central match of the round, but the competing teams, being at the bottom of the standings, are trying to avoid being in last place. In the next round, Shirak will play an away match against Van of Charentsavan, while Ararat will host Urartu at home. Thus, the fight is also intensifying between the teams at the bottom.
