Barcelona president Joan Laporta has responded to Atletico Madrid CEO Miguel Angel Gil Marin's comments regarding the Catalan club's offer to sign striker Julian Alvarez. The official noted that the club remains interested in the player, but the offer has a limited time frame.
"I respect everyone's opinion. The only thing I know is that we have made an offer. It is on the table and at some point it will not be urgent on our part," Laporta was quoted as saying by Mercato Blaugrana on X's social media page.
Gil Marin has previously publicly stated that Alvarez is not for sale and will continue to play for Atletico. The 26-year-old Argentine played 49 games in all competitions last season, scoring 20 goals and providing 10 assists. He has also expressed his desire to leave the Madrid club to "realize a dream." Alvarez will continue to compete for Argentina at the 2026 World Cup and will play in the final against Spain on July 19.
