In the framework of the fourth round of the C2 group of the 2026/27 UEFA Nations League, the Armenian national team played a friendly match with the Montenegrin national team. Our team has won one and lost two of its three matches in the current tournament. In the match against Montenegro in Yerevan, our team lost in the last minute of the match, before that Yeghishe Melikyan's men restored the balance of the match score twice with the goals of Artur Serobyan and Eduard Spertsyan.
The Armenian national team started the match with a 4/2/3/1 formation. The team led by Yeghishe Melikyan was active at the start of the match, which gradually turned into counter-attacking football. The defense of our team's goal was entrusted to the goalkeeper of Yerevan "Alashkert" Arsen Beglaryan, as in the match against Cyprus, but in this match Beglaryan kept the goal of the Armenian national team unassailable. It can be said that the defense quartet - Nair Tiknizyan, Eric Simonyan, Eric Piloyan and Georgi Harutyunyan - fulfilled the task set before them. The main midfielders were Karlen Hovhannisyan and Hugo Chukwue Iwu, Hovhannisyan was able to find free spaces to send the ball forward. Gor Manvelyan, who performed the duties of a sub-forward, supplied the ball to Artur Miranyan, who played in the attacking line, who received a short playing time in the Israeli team "Irony Tiberias", as a result of which a fitness problem arose in the central striker position. Wingers Artur Serobyan and Narek Hovhannisyan did a lot of work, Serobyan actively participated in the national team's attacks and joined the team's defense, trying to replace his absent teammates. Narek Hovhannisyan, who played on the right wing of the attack, was mostly active during the attack.
The head coach of the national team, Yeghishe Melikyan, brought team captain Eduard Spertsyan onto the field in the second half, after which the match took a different turn. It seemed that our team was rushing to victory, but the ball did not cross the opponent's goal line.
Thus, the Armenian national team ended the match with the Montenegrin national team in Podgorica with a goalless draw and was ranked third in the tournament table with four points. Montenegro is the leader with ten points, Cyprus is second with seven points, and Latvia closes the table with one point. The Armenian national team will hold its next match in Yerevan in November, hosting the Cypriot team.
