In the third round of the Armenian Premier League, Kapan's Gandzasar hosted Gyumri's Shirak at home. In the second round, the Kapan team faced Syunik and won 3:1, while Vardan Bichakhchyan's team lost to Armenian Cup winner Noah at home.
At the start of the match, Shirak played active football in adverse weather conditions. In the 27th minute of the match, the Gyumri team opened the score, with Vazgen Sargsyan scoring for the guests.
In the first half, there was a change in the Gandzasar team. Head coach Karen Avoyan brought Alexandre Lizalda onto the field instead of Leo Reis. Apparently, the Armenian specialist was dissatisfied with the actions of the Portuguese football player since there were no injuries.
In the second half, "Gandzasar" began to show more active football, possessing the ball. It should be noted that these teams met in the 23rd round of the 2025/26 Armenian Premier League season, where the Kapan team won 3:2. In that match, the goals for "Shirak" were scored by Rafik Misakyan, who played as a captain in today's match, and Narek Janoyan, while for "Gandzasar" - Anan Mensah, Michael Kveark and Arman Khachatryan. Before the start of the current season, Khachatryan and head coach Karen Barseghyan moved to Yerevan's "Ararat".
In the last ten games between the teams, four matches ended in victory for Shirak, three matches were won by Gandzasar, and three more matches ended in a draw. Thus, the guests are celebrating their first victory in the current championship.
