Famous sports commentator and TV presenter Georgy Cherdantsev commented on the controversial penalty awarded in the second extra time of Belgium's victory over Senegal in the round of 16. The match ended with a score of 3-2.
"Senegal should leave the field. They know how to do it," Cherdantsev wrote on his Telegram channel.
In added time of the second extra time, Senegal's Lamine Camara fouled Belgium midfielder Youri Tielemans. Honduran referee Said Martinez initially did not award a penalty, but changed his mind after reviewing the VAR system and consulting with the referees. Tielemans converted the penalty himself.
