Yerevan clubs continue their journey to the Eurocup, as part of the second round of UEFA Conference League qualification, Yerevan's "Alashkert" hosted Romania's representative "CFR Cluj". The team led by Vahe Gevorgyan overcame the obstacle of the Kazakh "Yelimay" in the first round of qualification by winning in a penalty shootout on the opponent's home ground.
At the start of the first half, Karen Nalbandyan and his teammates took the initiative, controlling the ball. The Yerevan team was putting pressure on the opponent, in the tenth minute of the match, “Alashkert” took the opponent’s goal, but it was not recorded. In the 35th minute, Rafael Jesus opened the score of the match (1:0).
In the second half, the Romanians restored the score balance in the 47th minute of the match.
Thus, Alashkert started the second round of qualification with a draw. According to sportsworld.am, Vahe Gevorgyan's boys have the prerequisites to continue the fight in the third round of qualification.
The 16-time champion of Armenia, Pyunik, will return to Yerevan empty-handed (1:0) after the match against the Hungarian Debrecen. According to sportsworld.am, the "Pomegranate" can make up for lost time in the return match.
The second round of qualifying will also see the Armenian Cup winner, Noah, draw 1-1 away to Moldovan side Zibru. Stefan Gitca opened the scoring in the 43rd minute. Sandro Perkovic's team equalized two minutes before the end with Valentin Kostake's goal.
The return matches will be held on July 30.
